A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME…
I was born in the vibrant and busy Barcelona. I now live in a beautiful rural part of West Donegal (Ireland) with my husband and two kids. I still go very often to my beloved hometown – to spend quality time with my family and get some vitamin D!
My background is a combination of Film & Media and Arts. I hold a BA in Audiovisual Communication and an Advance Script-writing degree along with several courses on researching and developing ideas for film and TV.
I completed two years of Fine Arts before getting itchy to go and live abroad. I chose Ireland as my destination. For years I worked in the field of documentaries, film festival organizing, and script-reading.
I have taken art courses over the years in Barcelona, Ireland, London, and Florence.
My favourite subject is portraits and animals -which in a way are a type of portrait… I enjoy experimenting with other subject matters but I seem to always go back to faces and figure. In terms of mediums, I often combine more than one, but I would say acrylic is my default medium on canvas or board, and watercolour and pencils when working on paper. I enjoy adding texture to some of my works. Collage is another medium I have a lot of fun with.
I have recently published an illustrated book for adults called “THE ZOO OF LOVE” which I am selling after a very successful crowdfunding.
I´m currently working on a grant-aided project to create a digital picture book about GRIEF.
I am also developing a series of mixed media works around the theme of MOTHERHOOD for which I received a bursary from Ealáin na Gaeltachta.
I have exhibited in Barcelona and in Donegal, and one of my paintings was selected for the Royal Ulster Academy’s Annual Exhibition 2019 in Belfast. My solo exhibition in 2018 about dementia called “Let’s Remember Together” which consisted of 25 portraits, 25 visual life stories and a video was very well received as well as being supported by various art government agencies.
I work on portrait commissions on a regular basis, mainly in Ireland and Spain but some of my portraits have also flown to the USA. I also facilitate art and reminiscence sessions and I have carried out art workshops.
